Curriculum

St. Edmund’s School is a unique, independent institution situated in the heart of the city. As a progressive co-educational school, St. Edmund’s is proud of its heritage and reputation. Through academics, athletics, outdoor education and environmental awareness, St. Edmund’s prepares students for university and life’s challenges.
The school offers its students a curriculum that is tailored to their individual academic needs. It meets and exceeds the requirement of Central Board of Secondary Education.
By combining academic excellence with experiential learning, St. Edmund’s education provides global perspective. One of the key elements to every student’s positive experience is our 30:1student – teacher ratio with class size rarely larger than 35. Our faculty is able to offer leadership in all areas of student life, including sports, arts and outdoor activities, as well as assisting the students with life skill development. Parents receive current, weekly progress reports about their children.
I-V (Primary)

Each Semester has two evaluations upto primary level to facilitate holistic learning to the students.

A five point rating scale along with the elimination of pass/fail system is followed.

  • No bag system is followed for the students
VI-VIII (Upper Primary)

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme has been extended for the classes VI, VII and VIII.
Each semester will have two Formative and Summative Assessment for evaluation of scholastic areas.
IX & X (Secondary)
Formative Assessment: It is a tool used by the teacher to continuously monitor the students progress in a non-threatening and supportive environment as well as raising the self esteem of the child and reducing the work load of a teacher.
It is diagnostic remedial, provides regular descriptive feedback to the students, allows for the active involvement of the students in their own learning, take advice and improve upon it.
It is done through quizzes, conversations, interviews, oral testing, visual testing, practical, projects and assignments.

Summative Assessment: It is terminal assessment of performance at the end of the semester. It will be in the form of pen paper test.

 

Now onwards there will be only grades in place of marks. A nine point grading scale has been implemented by CBSE having A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D, E1 and E2 grades.

CCE in classes IX and X is intended to provide holistic profile of the learner through evaluation of both scholastic and co-scholastic areas spread over two semesters.
Each semester will have two Formative and one Summative Assessment.
XI & XII : (Senior Secondary)

There will be two semesters each having one unit test and one term exam.
